SINGAPORE, August 3, 2022 – A leading school bus management provider in Singapore, Yeap Transport Pte Ltd recently signed a push-to-talk (PTT) solution contract with Smartcom Pte Ltd to enhance the effectiveness of employee coordination.
Under this solution, Yeap Transport will be using Smartcom’s TASSTA Certified Mission Critical Push-to-Talk (MCPTT) island-wide solution along with Samsung’s PTT devices while being further secured by Samsung’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution, Samsung Knox.
Under the deal, Yeap Transport will use the Samsung smart devices with in-built PTT for its bus crew and operations staff in its five decentralised command centres. Its purpose is to facilitate real-time coordination between bus drivers, bus monitors, and operators to ensure the timeliness and prevention of buses from arriving or departing simultaneously. School buses can then enter and leave the bus bays without facing congestion. In addition, the solution enables the bus monitors to report any incidents on the bus along its journey, allowing the operations staff to respond in a timely manner.
Samsung PTT devices were to replace the current IDEN/GRID devices that are already facing End-of-Life (EOL) from Motorola. Yeap Transport will also combine its in-house Bus Fleet Management System into the device. This will help the operators coordinate and monitor the fleet's details based on real-time information on one device.
Furthermore, because of Samsung’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution, it facilitates a cloud-based command centre for the IT admins to easily manage all devices remotely. Knox Manage allows the company to remotely control and access employee device usage such as configuration, troubleshooting, locking, suspending and limiting usage, or wiping devices in case they get lost or stolen. Also, since they are using more than 200 devices, updating the applications or firmware Over-the-Air saves time while increasing productivity since they do not need to be returned to HQ for these functions to be carried out.
